In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.

The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.

Book Review of Dark Lover.
Dark Lover is another book I liked better upon re-reading it.

What I liked about this one were the brothers and the camaraderie they share. Although this is the first book and the focus is on Wrath and Beth, I can already identify individual characteristics of each of the brothers and even whose stories I want to read more of.

Another plus are the details that go into building the world the Black Dagger Brotherhood inhabits, from their language, culture, believes to their way of life. It is obvious that a lot of thought went into it and the hints of more to come certainly hooked me the first time I read it.

What has me puzzled always is Beth and Wrath's relationship. While they are both supposedly crazy about each other, I could never figure out why. It has always seemed to be a case of pure lust to me from the moment of their first encounter.

My conclusion : Enjoyable reading for fans of paranormal romances.

  1. You know I enjoyed this series much more on re-read than I did on first read. I find the same thing with her angels series---maybe it is because the more we learn of the story, the more the back stories fit!
