Book Review of Lover Eternal.
Lover Eternal was a miss for me and I might have given up on the Black Dagger Brotherhood, except the ground work that was laid out for the subsequent stories really intrigued me.
Rhage and Mary's story bores me. I'm not sure why but I can't seem to get into it. Their romance started out rather interesting with Rhage being attracted to Mary by her voice and I definitely enjoyed the part when Rhage explains the hows and whys of his curse to Mary. Yet, I simply couldn't be bothered with the rest of their story and skimmed through most of it. In the end, I guess it's because neither of them ever seems real enough to me and their story is rather predictable.
The only parts I truly paid attention to were the ones which continued the Brotherhood's stories or sets up what will be coming in the next books. Even before Zsadist's book, I think it's pretty obvious what happened to him in the past and the wanting to find out how he will get his happy ever after is a big draw. Then, there's John Matthew. He's definitely one of my favourite characters in the series and the thing that has kept me guessing is whether any of the brothers will ever figure out who he is. And if they do, would that change their relationship ?
One thing which puzzles me though is the difference in how JM is treated as compared to Beth when the Brotherhood first meets them. Where Beth was considered an adult, JM is handled as if he’s still a child ?
My conclusion : Paranormal romance fans should give this a try.

I enjoyed your review! I have enjoyed reading this series, although not my favorite paranormal series, its one I love reading though!!! but I did enjoy reading Rhage's story, but it has been a while since I have read it though!!
ReplyDeleteRhage and Mary's story is one of the darker ones in the series. You will enjoy how the series progresses though I have to be honest some of the sections dedicated to the "bad guys" I kind of flipped through as I did not enjoy them at all.
