Dream Warrior (Dream-Hunter Novels)
The Dream-Hunter series.
Dream Warrior is the fourth book in the Dream-Hunter series. Check out the link below for a listing of the books in the series.
From Amazon :
The son of Warcraft and Hate, Cratus spent eternity battling for the ancient gods who birthed him. He was death to any who crossed him. Until the day he laid down his arms and walked into self-imposed exile. Now an ancient enemy has been unleashed and our dreams are his chosen battlefield. The only hope we have is the one god who swears he will never fight again.

As a Dream-Hunter, Delphine has spent eternity protecting mankind from the predators who prey on our unconscious state. But now that her allies have been turned, she knows in order to survive, the Dream-Hunters need a new leader. Someone who can train them to fight their new enemies. Cratus is her only hope. But she is a bitter reminder of why he chose to lay down his arms.

Time is running out and if she can't win him to her cause, mankind will be slaughtered and the world we know will soon cease to exist.

Book Review of Dream Warrior.
Dream Warrior was another boring read in the Dream-Hunter series.

First of all, it took me a long time to warm up to the 2 main characters, Jericho and Delphine. Too much time is spent emphasizing the sufferings Jericho had endured as a mortal while Delphine's arguments for Jericho to help the Greek pantheon sounded lame even to me. I doubt any person who had been tortured as Jericho had been would help his persecutors simply because it was the right thing to do.

Then, there's the sudden about face that Jericho makes the moment Noir turns on him. After all that talk about how much he hated Zeus and the Greek pantheon, it doesn't make sense that he should suddenly help them just because Noir betrayed him. It only makes sense that he would stop helping Noir for that one betrayal. Not for him to be suddenly helping the enemies who had tortured him for thousands of years because of that one betrayal by his current ally.

I'd recommend skipping this one if not because of certain events which effects the Dark-Hunter and Dream-Hunter hierarchy. After this book, it would appear that it is likely that they will work more closely now against a common enemy rather than as in the past, where the Dream-Hunters' main interactions with the Dark-Hunters were as healers. Best of all, a few of my favourite characters like Acheron, Zarek and Jaden seems destined to play a huge part in whatever is to come. Aside from that, there isn't much to recommend this one.

My conclusion : Dark-Hunter and Dream-Hunter fans need to read this, but I'd suggest borrowing the book for that purpose instead of purchasing it.

My favourite books from Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter and Dream-Hunter series so far :

  1. I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy this as much. Trusting from description of the book, this surely sounds like an interesting read. Guess that sometimes, such thing can really deceive you or perhaps, it just needs to be devoured at the right time? Hope that your next read will be even better than this one. Have a great day!

  2. I have to be honest, I only read the first line of your review (I'm a spoiler-phobe and I just wanted to make sure I didn't read any) Anyway. I am currently on Dream Hunter and had to put it down for a bit and read something else. I am having some serious issues getting into the book! I'm glad that it's not just me, though saddened that it seems to continue to be a bit boring in the future Dream-Hunter books.
